Your team’s technical ability was critical at many stages.  Both you and Drew brought a lot to the determination of what was feasible as well as what would look good.  You both volunteered many good ideas.

Alex is a very careful and clear communicator.  He had a lot of patience in tracking down various options and explaining their feasibility to Karen and me. Brandon and Joe have been excellent in the follow-up of numerous small items.  They make me optimistic about the next generation.  Of course, the wonderful attitude and integrity exhibited by everyone starts at the top.  We were so fortunate to go with Rockridge.

Rockridge Building Company was an amazing company to work with, especially DJ Schappert. We were building two houses at one time, and did not have the availability to get to Breckenridge more than a handful of times during the building process. Despite that, the experience was by far easier than even the local build we were doing. DJ and his team communicated everything in a timely and clear manner. DJ had invested the time to get to know us, and our style, so that he could anticipate what we would like or not like and help guide the process. He anticipated areas that might need to be looked at so that the final project would meet our expectations. When we asked for specialty finishes that were not common, their team took it as an exciting challenge as opposed to a hassle or inconvenience. The projected budget on the build was dead on, as well as the house being completed on time. The Rockridge staff was always helpful and pleasant no matter the request. I would never chose a different builder in that area, they care about you as a person, and want you to have your dream. We loved the personalized service that Rockridge provides, we were not just handed over to a different team once the project was sold. During every facet of our dream home build, the Rockridge Building Company far exceeded our wildest expectations for quality and customer service. From the first site visit to our land with DJ Schappert in 2013 until we received our CO in April of 2017, the Rockridge team was fully engaged with a level of attention to detail that is both exceptional and rare in this day and age. Let me preface these remarks with the fact that this is the fourth home we have built.

Rockridge just completed our mountain residence in Breckenridge, Colorado.  The company has been in business for many years in Summit County and definitely has the experience and contacts to delivery a quality product.  We were also blessed to have a wonderful project manager that was in daily contact with us as far as progress reports and addressing any concerns that we had.  The home was just completed and was featured in the winter issue of Summit Magazine.  A success for all!

I would also like to add that the company uses accounting software that is user friendly.  All draw requests were accompanied with a cover sheet and documenting paperwork to support the draw amount.  We always knew exactly where we were in the financials as the clarity of accounting was exceptional.  All change orders were verified in writing and also accompanied the draw requests.  There was NO gray area as far as the expenses were concerned.

IT WAS A JOY WORKING WITH THIS COMPANY.

In the process to design and build our dream home, we interviewed three highly recommended Breckenridge builders. Rockridge Building Company was the most prepared, thoughtful, and well managed. They brought a capable and effective team in the field and in the office. 

As construction progressed, Rockridge managed their subcontractors and suppliers constructively to guide the project smoothly. Communication and documentation was accurate. Changes were accommodated fairly, even our upgrades in finish materials. 

Our project included the full rehabilitation of an historic home and the new build of the addition. Rockridge demonstrated broad expertise in bringing the tired historic home back to life, in the well-crafted addition, and blending the old and new together.

This review could be short with one word - “PERFECT”, but I’ll give some details. My wife and I chose Rockridge to build our retirement home in the Highlands at Breckenridge, Colorado. It was completed in about 15 months and we moved in March, 2017.

Every person with whom we worked at Rockridge was a pleasure. Professional, timely, competent, thorough, pleasant and on and on. Rockridge helped us select our building site and our architect. I can’t thank them enough for that input. The subcontractors they used were superb. High quality, timely and efficient.

What we got but didn’t expect was a line-item detailed accounting for every penny spent on a monthly basis. Also, pictures of work progress every week sent to us at our primary home 900 miles away. With each set of pictures, the next week’s work plan was given. Anytime there was a delay (which was rare) we were told what was the cause and when the work would be back on schedule. 

What we also learned was: our new neighbor across the street is a retired home builder of high-end homes. The first day we moved in he came over to meet us and said, “I want you to know I’ve been coming over here every week and checking their work. They have really done an excellent job. Everything is first class - I said “I know. I love it”.
